Hi Sara and Sidesteel,
First off I am so thrilled I found this group....I have been a member on MFP for quite sometime now but I didnt know " groups" existed.. I have a million questions but I will try to keep it short n simple...
I used to be an avid cardio person but for the past 2 months I have been gradually moving more into lifting heavy ( for me) and cutting down on my cardio..I follow a tweaked ( by me ) version of stronglifts..
Monday/ Thursday- Squats/ deadlifts/lunges/leg press/ leg curl and a few other other lower body exercises ... this is usually followed by some cardio ..typically 20 mins or so
Tuesdays/ fridays- Bench press/ OHP/barbell rows , other upper body exercises.... again this is followed by 20 mins of cardio
Wednesdays/ saturdays - I run --- 3 miles in under 25 mins ( HIIT) the rest 2-4 miles in a steady pace or do a spin class..
Sundays are off....
What I want ?? I want abs like Sara's( i think a lot of women here do)... I want to lose about 10 lbs and drop my body fat % and get leaner...Do I continue with this routine or do lifts 3 times a week the stronglifts way?? and do cardio the rest 3 days n take Sunday off?? What would be more effective??
I have right rotator cuff tendonitis...It first happened about 4 years back and it got better but its come back now since the past 2 weeks or so..My doc said no lifting for 10 days and prescribed me tabs for 10 days n the usual icing it....he was pretty positive it would improve by then... So given this what exercises are in and whats out for me??? I am quite unhappy with this scenario but i am scared i wont be able to do much weights if my shoulder doesnt get better....
Thanks !!!

Hi!
I have calcific tendonitis. I hope you feel better soon! I run, squat, lunge, passive movements and physio for shoulders and every now and then I deadlift (weight in left hand) but usually regret it later:) Rows are pretty important but not if it's against doctors orders. Most of the time I can't row even my one and three pound dumbells without pain.
But I am motivated like you and I'm pretty sure from chatting with other people here that rest will get you where you want to be faster.0 -
Thank you :flowerforyou:
Can you lift as normal after the 10 days are up?0 -
The doctor said I could start lifting again if there was no pain and it wasnt bothering me.... For these 10 days I have to baby it and if things dont improve after 10 days he would get the big guns ( read steroid shot into shoulder) out....I am terrified of shots, so I do hope things get better by day 10....
As of now I have been taking the meds for 5 days and i really cant feel any difference..so i guess I have to wait and watch...0 -
There is a other thread here on eat train progress where a few people weigh in about their experience with cortisone shots. ( I have that option too, but haven't chosen to yet)
Here it is:

When you get back to the routine, make sure you take it easy (you may want to drop down the weights by quite a bit) and be thorough with your warm ups.0
