Hey everyone i got home a couple of days ago on March 7th. I haven't been in too much pain besides my stomach making some weird noises. Everything went well surgery was a little over 2 hours with no complications. I have 5 incisions. My procedure was done using the davinci robot.
Day after surgery had a hard time getting fluids in i was supposed to get in like an ounce every hour and i got 4 ounces the whole day and night.. the next day was 1 ounce every 15 minutes and i still struggled with that but did better than the day before. I didn't think i would be sent home but i was. Still struggling a bit with my fluids but doing better day by day. Still trying to get used to my new stomach i am never hungry i eat 2 tbsp and most of the time IF i can finish it usually it's like an hour before i can finish. That's if i can finish it.. it feels weird not knowing when i am full.
Only 4 days post op so trying to get used to everything still. But i am officially on the other side.

Congratulations. My stomach made noises and rumbled for about a week. That's from the gas they pump you up with to make surgery easier. Drinking will get easier. It takes a few months to get back to normal, or at least your new normal. Do what the docs tell you, get in your supplements, liquid and protein, and you'll do great.
Sugar free popsicles were a great way to get extra fluids in my first few weeks. And they're addictive. And be prepared for a stall in weight loss a couple of weeks or so after surgery. Most people go through that. It's a little depressing so close to surgery, but it will pass pretty quick. Log everything.
Congratulations again.0 -
Please try to get those fluids down. If you don't you will get dehydrated. I know cause it happened to me on more than one occasion and I had to get iv fluids done at the infusion center at the hospital 5 different times. I had to get 80 oz of liquids in before they would even release me from the hospital and ended up staying an additional 2 more days due to that issue. I had a hital hernia that they repaired once they got in there to do the sleeve surgery they found it so they fixed it but it really slowed me down on my liquids which they said is normal. Try to drink 8 oz an hour, 1 oz every 7 minutes or so. They gave me the little medicine cups to use that helped and I tracked them on a paper to. I had to do this actually in the hospital also.
The sugar free popsicles help as they count for 2 oz of liquids I think. Try hot decaf tea also, for some reason that went down better than anything else for me.
Good luck!0 -
Congratulations! I had the VSG on 1/24/13 and feel good overall except that I still feel like I haven't regained all of my stamina back. If you follow your doctor's advice you should be fine. Drink ALL of your fluids and take in ALL of your protein as best as possible. I see a difference in the scale every time I start to slack off. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!0

I am 10 months out (RNY) and still only get 16-32 oz. of fluids a day. I had a hard time with this previous to WLS but still struggle today. Measure your food to avoid over eating. That is what I do. Also set an alarm to remind yourself to eat or drink. I still do this or I forget to eat. It will take time but you are doing great. fatigue will take 6-8 weeks and then all of a sudden you will have this amazing sense of energy. For me, I noticed holy crap did I really just park way out here... ( The walking no longer bothered me) or running into the grocery store without a cart to lean on. It will be a sudden surprise.
You are already on my friends list but anyone else who isn't feel free to add me. Also feel free to msg. me if you have any questions or just want to vent!
Good Luck
