Reset for everyone

I get if a person is new to this they eat there TDEE- 20% or 15%
If they have been doing 1,200 cals or low cals for a while they do a reset and eat TDEE first then -20/15 %.
What about a person who has been doing 1,200 for a couple of years with long breaks in between(who stays the same weight)takes a 3 month break eats normal then comes back to 1,200 and after two weeks finds all this amazing new information.
Do I need to really do a reset?
I really want to commit to this...
Got my weights & New rules for women.
Sorry for maybe not explaining myself right this is what 1,200 cals does

It's personal preference really so I can only comment based on my own experiences but I had been a yo-yo dieter prior to EM2WL so I had had periods of VLCD (<1000 cals per day) mixed with periods of over-eating.
Just before I joined MFP I had been on a weight gain phase between around January 2012 and May 2012. I then joined MFP and did 1200 cals for just a few weeks before joining EM2WL. I did not do a reset as I felt it wasn't necessary owing to having only been eating low cal for a few weeks (that time around) so I went straight in at TDEE -15%.
However I didn't really see much in the way of results so after about 3 months I decided to jump up to TDEE and do a reset. I think the reason I wasn't seeing results was because of long term metabolic damage from years of yo-yo dieting. I then spent 3 months eating at TDEE and feel this was really good for me in terms of repairing my metabolism and re-building a healthy relationship with food.
In short, I really wished I had just jumped straight in and done a TDEE reset from the beginning as I wasted 3 months when I didn't really achieve anything.0 -
I also started at TDEE - 15% after netting 1200 for about a month. After a few weeks I didn't see results, so I said why waste any more time? I'm 4 weeks into my reset. Yes, my weight has gone up (6 pounds to be exact), but at least I know that when I finish this reset, I can cut on more calories and not stress about stupid 1200 effing calories. And my clothes still fit.
To be honest, I was afraid of the reset because I was afraid to gain weight, intentionally. I somehow thought I would gain a ton of weight and burst out of my clothes, and have to work harder to lose the weight again. Any way you slice it, I'm going to have to do work to cut this weight lol. And if I gain another 6 pounds in 4 more weeks, it's no less than what I gain around the holidays EVERY YEAR! And I always lose my holiday weight before summer.
I would suggest reading some of the success stories in this group. That is what keeps me going. I feel like I have nothing to lose. (Besides the weight, of course.)0 -
I've seen many move up to BMR for 2 or 3 weeks, until no slow steady weight gain. Initial water weight doesn't count, that should happen.
Then moved up to the cut amount for 2 or 3 weeks, until no weight gain.
Then up to TDEE for 4 wks.
Or move up 200 cal daily for a week at a time.0
