Just a "Howdy"

Hello, All!
Please pardon me for cross posting this in a couple of groups, but it’s really hard to write 3-4 identical introductions .
To begin will, I’ll introduce myself. Hi, I’m Tom. Well, now that’s out of the way.
I’m a home-schooling, stay-at-home daddy by daytime (thus my nickname), with 3 amazing kidlets (2 boys, age 9 and 7, and a delightful girl, age 6). I have an amazing wife (age unspecified ) who puts up with me. I’m 47, and have been struggling with weight all of my life.
My last success was with Atkins, about 18 months ago. I had lost about 40 lbs, and my Cholesterol and Triglyceride numbers had moved exactly to where they should be. Then, at Thanksgiving I decided I could take a “free day” to enjoy a traditional dessert-followed by, “Well, I may as well make it a vacation so that I can enjoy some Christmas treats as well,” which became me over year later, and over 300 lbs. So, time to get back onto the Atkins program. I’m starting induction today. Feel free to check out my food diary and comment, make suggestions (please).
Hmm, not sure what else to say. Feel free to peruse my profile if you’d like, and ask questions/make comments. I’m a pretty open guy.
Have a terrific, and successful day, all!
Tom

Tom, welcome back to this woe, which works. You have your hands full (in a good way) and its awesome that you can be there for your kiddies
Once you get through the carb "flu" your body will start to feel the way it's supposed to. I think we can all relate to how a simple cheat turns into weeks of being off plan. Now I "cheat" with Atkins friendly foods, like Atkins bars, or low carb candy. Although these foods will stall me if i eat too much, it's not as bad as eating the high carb, sugary version. There's also so many foods that you can make with the kids...LC cookies, ice cream, pudding, etc..

    Hi Tom,

I'm also trying it again, this time realizing that I just can't tolerate any low quality carbs without massive cravings, binging, and then off plan and weight gain. My blood pressure has been high lately 150/90 and I definitely don't want to end up on meds so I'm off sugar/crap carbs and I'm starting a C25K program tonight, thanks to a handy android app!

In October I was the lucky recipient of a massive stroke due to a damaged vertebral artery which my neurologist is blaming on my chiropractic adjustment, I'll never know the truth! So here I am, 32 year old mother of 2 young children who refused to die! I have very little residual damage but I never, EVER, want to feel like I'm leaving my kids before they're old enough to cope! Knowing that feeling makes it easier (although not as easy as I would have thought! lol) to stay OP and avoid crappy foods.

I'm also agonizing over the homeschool decision for my little ones, maybe we can help each other with more than we think! :)

Friday will be the end of week 1 on Induction for me, doing alright!!
