nervous about moving to workouts 3/4...

Hi everyone! I'm new here and so glad there is a MFP board for BR. I just started week 2 and will be starting week 3 on Saturday if I stay on schedule, but I'm wondering if I should. I notice myself getting stronger each time I do the workouts over and that I can move a little faster, etc. But this is the first time I've worked out in about 2 years and I'm incredibly out of shape. It' s still hard for me to do some of the moves (especially Running Man, which half the time I end of jogging in place or something during) and planking, etc.

So I'm wondering if I should progress to 3/4 this weekend or if I should maybe do another couple of weeks of 1/2?? Any advice? Thanks!

That's always an option and not a bad one if you really feel you could do with more time to condition your body. But your cardio will stay the same during workouts 3 and 4 (so you've got two more weeks of Running Man!), so maybe give them a go and see how it is?

I totally understand how you feel, though, because I'm really stressing starting 5 and 6 next week! But I don't think there's any shame in giving them a go and seeing that maybe you do need to take a step back. All you'd be doing is taking the more scenic route. You'll still get there in the end!

  • Thanks so much! I didn't realize the cardio stayed the same at 3/4 (ah curse that Running Man!!) guess I didn't pay too much attention. Maybe I will try the 3/4 ones then and see what I can do!

go for it - I'm on week 6 and the first time I do every dvd, i think it's too hard and the next time, it's easier and by the 4th time, I'm kickin *kitten*!!! JUST PUSH THROUGH! it's only a 1/2 hour.... and just fyi - cardio 2 isn't as hard as cardio 1 in my opinion (no suicides- lol)

I am on week 5 and I felt the same way about Running Man the first few weeks. I hated it and would have to stop a few times and then go again meanwhile Jillian jokes about us feeling nauseous! I wanted to die at that point. But after a few weeks, I could do Running Man the entire time without stopping. I think the faster I go, the easier it is too. When I was struggling with Running Man early on, I would slowdown and my legs just felt like dead weights. Since Cardio1 is used for your entire Phase 1, you get LOTS of practice with it! Also planks are really still hard for me. I have little ab strength and still have a long way to go with strength during planks and push-ups. I say keep on truckin and go for workouts 3/4 and if after a few more weeks, if you feel like you need one more week from phase 1, then go for it. It doesn't matter how long the program takes you, as long as you are making progress!
  • I did weeks 1 and 2 for an extra week. And I did weeks 3 and 4 for an extra week and a half. After 4 1/2 weeks of Cardio 1 - I just switched to another cardio. I am glad I repeated since I was able to focus on my form and when it came to workout #5 - I was stronger and knew the proper form.

Do what feels right. I know this 90 day revolution is going to be like 120 days for me once I'm done.

I'm repeating the first two weeks again for another round, I think that is right for me - I'm getting stronger but don't feel like I should move on right now :)

I start 3/4 tomorrow and I'm really contemplating just repeating 1/2 like you. I'm going to give it a go though, and worst case scenario, go back to 1/2 on Thursday/Friday if I find 3/4 unbearable.

How did you find 3/4? I just did 3 for the first time yesterday and I wanted to die - def have to modify a lot of it, but I'm gonna keep going because I know I felt the same way with 1/2 when I first started, now I can do those fine - I wanna just go back but I'm gonna keep pushing forward....
