    I am concerned when I see people trying to diet and eat less than 1200 calories - The average basal metabolic rate is 1200 calories. That is what you burn before you even get out of bed. If you go below your BMR your body will find fuel somehow. It will take from bone and muscle along with fat. Just remember your heart is a muscle. You don't really want to hurt your body to lose weight do you??? It's supposed to be about getting healthy. If you ever get the chance to get your metabolism test I say go for it. I found out mine was 1400-1600. My good friend found out she has 20 lbs more muscle than me and her BMR is 1600-1900.
