hitting macros before cals

I've ranted about this on my status before (Eric knows...) but I keep running into the same problem: I fill up my macros before I fill my carbs. And it's not just by a few... it's like 500 cals difference. But my macros are basically full (only a few left), and if I were to eat enough cals, at least one of my macros would be over.
So here's the question: Do I pay more attention to the cals or the macros?
For reference, my net cals (after workout) tend to hover around 1300-1500, with pre-workout cals being closer to 1600-1800.

This of course won't work for everyone (and possibly only me) but I plan and log my meals either the night before or while I'm logging my breakfast. That way I can see how it all plays out and I can adjust quantities or foods to get the results I want. Then I'm not surprised at the end of the day. Sometimes I do have to adjust foods as things come up or I find out that some ate the last of something I was planning to eat, etc.0
