Hi all,
I never plateaued. I was happily losing weight. then i found this group upped my cals and no budge for 2 1/2 weeks. (gained a few pounds!) I decided to stick with it and see if this is still good. As skeptical as I am right now.... I also started doing p90x-- so I'm attributing most of the gain to that..new muscles blah blah.
But my question is -- did anyone out there make the switch even though they never experienced a plateau?? How did it go-- both emotionally and physically?
Feel free to add me as well!
Thanks,
Chels

You should read the sticky on "what to expect when you up cals" - basically your body has been duped into a lower TDEE, and you need to raise up to your real TDEE in order to retrain your metabolism to work as it should.
There will usually be some scale gain associated with this as your body thinks you are now "over-eating", however, given an appropriate amount of time (usually 8 - 12 weeks) your weight gain will stop as your true TDEE will ahve been achieved.
Persevere with this and you will be rewarded - mental stability, no reliance on the scale, confidence and power in your workouts, and a greater appreciation for the things that matter (measurements, body fat %, the things that actually determine health).
You say you hadn't plateaued, but that would have happened eventually, might as well retrain your body now rather than later and refrain from doing more damage.
Don't take this lightly though, I went through hell when I reset, but I'm so glad I persevered and got through it, I have never been happier or more content than I am right now, I haven't lost a single pound in 2 months but have lost a dress size and ~ 5% body fat. Plus I'm not crabby or tired, or have migraines, or have acne. Eating a proper amount of real food is the only way forward.
