Strength training advice

I'm putting together a strength training program that I can do at home with dumbbells and body weight. Looking at using some youtube and fitness blender strength training workouts.
How do you guys record your strength training? I started off putting it on mfps exercise page. I've downloaded a few apps which is just more confusing. I would like some recommendations on how best to keep records?
Hope it's not a stupid question..

A lot of people use jefit on here as well as the fitocracy app. I use this site as well as an excel spreadsheet. Others are old school and use a notepad (I tend to misplace them myself).0

I actually created my own sheet in Word using the tables feature. I'm not very good at making things look fancy, but I have to say it turned out quite well
I just have a column for exercise, weight, and then a column for each set and then rows for the exercises! copy and paste.....easy peasy!0 -
I like excel because you can set it up to track much more than just the weight lifted. For example I track my body weight changes so that I can see my lifts as a percentage of my body weight over time. I also track the number of rest days between workouts so that I can see if there is a pattern in my stalls being more common with fewer days rest between workouts, and how many days off it takes before my strength starts to decline. I can also easily see which exercise causes the most stalls for me so that I can consider if it is a strength vs. form issue or something else.
If you like lots of data and the ability to easily analyze it I highly suggest using a spreadsheet in addition to any other tracking apps.0 -
Yeah, I'm a data and gadget gal. It has proved worthwhile over the last 9 months. Being a data cruncher has helped me work out patterns with food, macros, weight loss, activity level etc. Strength training is the next goal0
