Hello everyone. I am new to this group.

I do not have diabetes, though there is someone (sometimes more than one) in every generation of my dad's side and history on my mothers side, so I thought that I should join this group to learn, share and support.

I have been losing weight and learning a lot, so I know that anyone that has an excess of body fat; especially upper body and belly fat is at risk for diabetes among other health problems.

I am happy to connect with you.

Welcome, and congratulations on taking that first huge step in prevention! If you have questions, I'm sure others here can either answer them, or at least point you in the right direction to find them.

A great place to start, no matter if you are wanting to learn more about it because you are trying to prevent the issue, or because you have just been diagnosed with it is www.bloodsugar101.com There is a ton of information there. (I still haven't made it through the entire web site!

Welcome to the group. You're way ahead of the game by learning now. You may even be able to prevent the development of diabetes. As kcaffe1 said - www.bloodsugar101.com is a great site and one that I've learned a lot from. Another site I've learned from is www.diabetesforums.com.
