I've been diabetic since 2001. I am 45 years old. I joined this site last week. I decided to keep the food journal and have drastically cut my carb intake. I am finding I am as a result having to cut back on my insulin. I have been taking Lantus and Humalog and also 1,000 mg of Metformin twice a day.
Looking forward to being a part of the group and encouraging and being encouraged. My last A1C was a horrible 8.6 and my goal is to get it under 6.5 this next time.

Hey there Jeff,
Welcome aboard, to this very supportive and helpful group.
Congrats on taking charge. I was amazed at how unhealthy I was eating, prior to joining MFP, once I started logging my meals.
Diagnosed 27 years ago, I'm on on the same diabetes meds as you, and I look forward to sharing our contributions.

Hey Jeff, welcome aboard. I've been eating in a healthier manner since last August. It really helps for me to log what I eat. I stay at 60 grams or less of carbs per day. I'm off one BP med, one diabetes med and have cut my Lantus from 100 units a day down to 40.

Hey Jeff,
Welcome. I just joined this week myself. My last A1C was 7.1 but that was down from a previous 9.3. Im on 30 units of Lantus, 1000mg Metformin x2 and 10 Glipizide slow release. Im 52 tipping the scales at 260 looking to get under 200. I think at 6ft 180 is my ideal weight. I just started getting into the green smoothie kick.0 -

Hi and welcome to MFP and this support group. I have been on this new journey for 2 1/2 months and have dropped 21 lbs. More importantly, I have BG numbers have gotten so much more in control. Before losing any weight, my fasting BG was always over 200. Now, it is in the range of 70 - 120. I have greatly reduced the amount of Novolog I take, although the Lantus is at the same level for the time being. I have noticed that my numbers are better when I have exercised, so I am trying to get to the gym at least 4 nights a week (more if I can, but it is hard with a busy life).
Friend me if you'd like!0
