Water dumping

Can you tell me why it is suggested that a week before I take my pix I dring alot of water, then a couple days before I dont dring at all? I understand the depletion, but dont understand why I would dring alot before. Wouldnt I just slowly cut down my water that week? Any feedback would be great.

I don't understand the physical part of this, but there are threads about "contest prep" on the venus index forum, itself, which discuss all of this.

What I did for my water load/depletion was calculate how much water I drink on average and then times it by 3 to know how much water I'll need to drink when I start my load... For me on average I drink 84.5 ounces a day, which broke down to 5 bottles of 16.9 ounces... So when you multiply that by 3 you get 253.5...

I did my water load for 3 days (starting this past Friday) and drank about 240 ounces of water Friday and Saturday; then on Sunday I drank around 260... We were scheduled to start shooting around 2pm on Monday, so by 10pm on Sunday night I didn't eat or drink anymore... I didn't eat or drink until after my photo was done.... You're supposed to stop 12-16hrs before your event or photo shoot...

I weighed in at 153.4 on Friday (mind you I was already starting to bloat since my period was coming) and yesterday before I took my pics I weighed in at 149.8.... I also took my measurements and those were down too....

Had I not been on my period I still would have done it b/c I know it would have helped with making me leaner on picture day or at least feel leaner... LOL...

It actually wasn't that bad consuming all that water, easier than I thought it would be... I used a great water tracking app called water logged for iPhones... Loved it! It sent me reminders in 30 min intervals to drink up! LOL...

    Awesome!

    Can you also advise:

    1. how many calories you ingested on the days you were 'water-loading'?
    2. how did THOSE calories compare to what you would have ingested in "normal mode"?
    3. when you ceased the water (16 hours prior to your photo shoot), did you ALSO cease eating?

    4. Did you suffer any "insomnia" during your water-load, plus fasting, days?
    5. Were you up throughout your sleeping hours to go pee (because of the water-loading)?

I probably should have ate less on those but my calorie range was around 1000 each day.... Mainly protein and veggies... So I didn't eat anything out of the norm or cut out anything...

When I stopped at 16 prior, I didn't eat or drink anything... Although I did suck on ice cubes! LOL...

I didn't fast while water loading, although I probably could have since I wasn't super hungry.....

I had no trouble sleeping, but I think that was b/c I had to be up at 430am to be to work by 6am... LOL..

The pictures were AMAZING. I'm so sorry I've forgotten about this group lately.

On the water load.. when you drink a lot of water it helps your body release water instead of retain it.

On the calories, you don't need to decrease or increase, but it's best to find foods that don't make you bloated that week. Everyone is different but most people will get some bloat with extra sodium and wheat. And then of course the night before the pictures if you eat the "white" carbs without the extra water it kind of makes your muscles pop for most people.

And the day of pictures you can eat (I eat protein, white carbs, fruit), but just small quantities at a time so that you don't make your tummy full for the pictures.

I'm trying a "mini-water-load" for my April month-end report (due tomorrow!)....unsure if I did it correctly and unsure if pics will show anything, but thought I'd give it a (practice) whirl!
