Vacation!

I have made a promise to myself that I'm using my tax return for a vacation this year. It's been waaaaay too long since I've been on a proper one and I decided I deserve it!! So, what are the best ideas for going on vacation alone? I'd invite friends, but I doubt schedules or finances would match, so I'll most likely be going solo.

I went on a cruise with a cousin and an aunt in January and it would have been ok to be alone---they have alot for solo passengers and being on the beach alone might have been preferable to being with my cousin and aunt......lol.

I would go to Catalina Island <3

but that's a bit further for you.

Maybe a nice resort - check ahead to make sure they have fun activities, bars or spa's or something.

Great ideas ladies, although a cruise is not my top choice after all the bad press is the news lately. I was reminiscing to my younger days backpacking through Europe and thought about how much fun walking everywhere was. Maybe I need another trip like that? Anyone else want to go!?

A beach vacation could be nice... I was planning one for the kids and I before all this sequestration mess hit. Now we'll be heading out to my mom's. Yay.

We were originally going to the Outer Banks, NC. But, there was a cute cottage in Hilton Head, SC that had great rates for the week...the only reason I was hesitant was that it looked like something better suited for a kid-free vacation. I could see myself relaxing here all week. :

Well it depends on how much you are getting from your return. One of my favorite places to visit is Savannah, GA/Tybee Island. I really like visiting there in spring and fall.

Outer Banks was such a blast! You could hang on the beach, or there are many activities to do like museums, water sports, tourist shopping, lighthouses. I loved it and I want to go again!
  • Its the F***ing Catalina wine mixer!! (Roadie I love you)

How far are you looking to travel and what is your general comfort zone? If you can afford the airfare - SE Asia is a breeze to travel in as a single woman. I was with a friend in Cambodia and Laos for a month and then a month in Vietnam by myself a few years back. You meet tons of travelers from all over, food and scenery, not to mention culture, cities and beaches are amazing!

But really, go to the beach!!! Any beach as long as it is nice and warm. You could totally do that on your own.

Totally fixated on vacation ideas lately! Am going to a national park next week to freeze my *kitten* off. Parks can be fun with lectures and the nerdy group activities they sometimes have.

Not sure of your interests, budget, whatever, but I usually start planning with museums that I'd like to check out., but researching can easily become an internet bottomless pit : ( Right now am obsessing about a retrospective that I want to go to, but conversely- don't want to visit (and can't afford) the cities that it's visiting. Do want to go to Reykjavik for the penis museum, and back to the musée saint-Raymond in tolouse. So many choices. So hard to choose.

    Hey!
I have never been on a vacation alone, but I would assume any all inclusive would be fun for you... just laying on the beach would be relaxing. I know people who do them alone. I also believe there are singles ones, and probably others too?!? Really, myself I have only been to Vegas, while that may be fun alone, I see that more as a girl's trip. Sorry I am not much help in that regard.

This year I told myself I was using my tax return for my first all inclusive .......so I am off to Mexico on April 14. You wanna join us? :)

I'm heading to the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis in May. Looks like I'm going by myself. Should be a blast. Three days of awesome live music.

This is something I wanted to do. Would love for some friends to come with, but as you said most of the time schedules and finances don't match up.

OMG, trust me, I've thought about it! I miss London and would love to meet you!! My passport expired not long ago, so getting it renewed might be the only hold up. I should look into that today.

I have the same problem with vacations - single and my friends are all bums.

I'm hoping to go stay at a Muay Thai camp in Thailand within the next year or two. You basically train and fight all day. It's not the most relaxing vacation but it would be an awesome experience.

I go away by myself for weekends all the time - usually to Tahoe to hike or snowboard. Planning things around an actual activity works best for me to make sure I don't end up sitting around watching TV and surfing the Internet.

This place got their first human specimen about a year ago. It was a fail. I sort of assumed this was horrible and grossly fascinating enough that people already knew all about it?
