When The Scale Does Not Like You!

I decided to Share something with you. Motivation of Sorts. For those of you lifting weights routinely you may expect this from time to time as your body juggles between gaining muscle and losing weight. Last week I weighed in at 213 after four weeks of Plateau (13 more to go until i recalculate), I lost 2 lbs I was so excited I finally broke through. Weighed myself this morning and gained 1.8 of it back. This week I ate cleaner then ever and burned more calories.

Expect this to happen from time to time and do not let it discourage you. Other factors that may have contributed. Yesturday I worked from 8 am - 9:30 pm and when I got home I ate dinner and went to bed shortly there after. Sometimes you need to do this when you are super busy. It just so happened it was the day before my weekly weigh in.

I will check tomorrow morning again to see if this was the reasoning. I think however I have imflammed muscles from the three killer lifting sessions I did this week. I will let you know what happens tomorrow.

The reason I posted this is because I know sometimes when the scale don't move people can get very frustrated. This is what I do for a living and have been doing for 8 years and sometimes the numbers don't even add up for me. Ever see the biggest loser when jillian flips out because they don't lose weight lol because she don't understand why. I happens from time to time.

Onward MY Friends

P.S. Sometimes this is why I weight myself monthly instead of weekly but I like to see instant gratification just like everyone else =-)

Thank you Mike for sharing. You are helping a lot more people by being honest , that by hiding or explaining away things. You are focused and a blessing to all who are on this path!!! You Rock!

Thank you! I was dying to wiegh myself this morning just because I fee lighter, but I know if I didn't see what I wanted to see it would ruin my whole day. So I refrained! I will weigh on Monday which is really going to keep me accountable this weekend! I've been working out every day and logging all my calories so I REALLY hope that this is the week I will have a post on MYF that shows a loss! I've only done that once since I've been on here over a year!

Pam. Trainers that try and explain things away generally aren't very good. There will always be variables which are out of the client and trainers control that is why adjustments need to be continually made :) hope you feel better and therapy went well today.

Thank you this is so me! Even though I only started MFP this month I've been working hard at losing weight and toning up for past 9 months, I am so close now but this last bit seems the hardest! I don't weigh every day as its just not motivating for me

I weigh in weekly at the same time in the morning... but I also rely on how my clothes fit and the tape measure, which really is a good measure. The scale can be so finicky!!

I don't like the scale either
i weighed myself last week and nothing changed, my weight was the same
but i did lose 1 inch from my waist and hips
I weighed myself again today and i gained 2 lbs!!! :noway:
but my waist and hips still have that 1 inch loss, and it looks... leaner? i think that's the right word
so i guess i should be happy
i'm hoping to lose 1-2 inches from my thighs, hopefully i will
but still i'd just want that scale to agree with me and lose a few pounds

Weight loss has lots of benefits, but keep in mind shrinking hips and shrinking waist = higher metabolism which means more fat loss down the line =)
