I just bought my 1st 2 Cathe dvds, pyramid upper & pyramid lower and cardio supermarkets tonight, when they come in, I'm wondering if I'll need to keep calories the same or up them a bit..I'm at 1600 now. I have 30 lbs to lose though and I'm 5'3.

I use Scooby's calculator to work out how much to eat: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
Maintenance is around 2700, cutting to lose fat I aim for around 2300/2400 and for gaining I eat 2900/3000.
I am following STS at present so I train 3 times per week. They are very energy demanding workouts so I would suggest you might need more than 1600 cals, although I don't know your stats.
I have my macros set to 40:30:30 (C:P:F) although I don't usually hit 30% protein, but always get at least 1g per lb LBM (around 120g for me) and am usually around the 150g mark.0 -
I don't have exact numbers...IDK if you are active on Cathe's forums, but I recention mentioned there that I'm struggling w/ a few things including what and how much to eat. One thing I do know, is that I have definitely felt like I needed to eat more since working out w/ Cathe!
I am working thru her beginner rotation right now (I'm on Week 4) - I'm nowhere near at a level where I could do the Pyramid w/o's - so I would definitely recommend upping **IF YOU FIND YOU NEED IT**.
What I would do is, do whatever Cathe workout you have planned for that day. Pay really close attn to how you feel - ie: do you feel like the workout is tough, or do you feel like you literally do not have the *energy* to push thru say, two more lunges? Consider lightening your weights to see if that is what you need. But if you can't finish the workout, or you find you have to go no/lighter weights, I'd eat more next time. Then see if that helps.
Of course, you want to eat something that is going to provide you good energy. Don't eat a cheeseburger. Another thing to try, is coffee if you drink it. Sometimes, if I know I don't really have extra room in my diet that day, I will drink some coffee before a workout (about 30 min before). I drink it black. I drink coffee regularly though and I also metabolize it quickly enough that I can go to bed by 11pm no problem, even if I drink it around 6-7.1
