I decided to participate in a 1 mile race to test the waters of my ability. I did ok. I finished 1 mile in 13:32. I was really pleased with myself, considering back in January it took me 20 minutes to do a mile. My first 5k will be on 3/30 if the snow dissipates. Even though I know I can run a mile I'm still a little nervous about the 5K. After watching the video that my daughter made of me...my focus now is going to be on breathing, stride & arm swings.

Wow, you shaved a lot of time off your pace since January, that is great  Having just completed my first 5K I think you will do great. If you are anything like me, seeing everyone else will push you through and you may find you do better than you think you will. Good luck!

You will do awesome! 13:30 is my "easy run" pace about six weeks after graduation, so you're already faster than me :)
