Not understanding

Everyone is talking about your BMR and TDEE. I am not understanding this. I figured my BMR but not quite sure how to know what my TDEE is and eating more or less than that. I have started working so I haven't been working out as much as I should. People say 3500 calories=1 pound. So if I burn 3500 calories in a weeks time, am I going to lose 1 pound? Would just like some clarification.

Your BMR is a value used to help estimate your TDEE. Your TDEE is where we start to figure out your caloric needs. For example if you want to lose weight, take your TDEE and subtract about 20% for a good starting point.
3500 calories = 1 pound of fat. When you lose weight, you will not likely lose pure fat. The take home message is that weight loss is not linear. It come's off in chunks and water weight can fluctuate. Focus on maintaining a daily deficit and weight loss will happen.0 -
