How about something like a checklist for getting started on a healthy nutrition and fitness plan and how to progress? Kind of a "start with x, y, z and once you master that move on to a, b, c." It might be helpful for people like me who never learned about health and are trying to teach themselves now. It can be overwhelming to sift through all of the information and it's hard not to compare yourself to others when setting goals.0

So like a how to get started? I could probably break this idea up into 2 parts. Thanks! Sounds like a great idea.0 -

Yeah, something like that. Breaking it into 2 parts sounds good, too. Or even breaking it up between obese vs. overweight vs. already fit.
When I first got started, I felt like I had to focus on calories, macros, training for a marathon, drinking a gallon of water a day, eating 7 servings of fruits/vegetables every day, BMR, TDEE, body fat, strength training, etc. It was too much, and sifting through the forums wasn't very helpful because some people are obese like me, some are in great shape and have been for a long time, and you can find advice on both sides of any topic (which led to more confusion).
Another example, everyone was doing 30DS, so I tried it and didn't go well. It wasn't realistic for someone my size and fitness level to do something like that, but I felt like a failure because everyone else could do it just fine, and I wasn't sure what I could do instead. I was already doing walking videos, but they weren't challenging anymore, and I had no idea where to find the middle ground.
I hope that makes sense. Thanks for starting this group, by the way!0 -
Ummm how about this? People are very visual so how about a few comparison visuals... Like... 100 calories of this verses 100 calories of that? 500 Calories of this compared to 500 calories of that? Or 10 pounds of fat compared to 10 pounds of muscle? I do love those and find them interesting and encouraging!!! Or a side by side video of how to modify basic exercise moves using an overweight person and a fit person? Just seems more realistic and personal? Just kinda thinking out loud!?!0
