Is it normal to have breakouts when starting keto? I am on day 3 and my face is breaking out bad. Not sure if it's from the fats or what : (

The toxins in your skin are rising to the surface as your body is cleansing itself. You will notice a great improvement to your skin once the breakout is over. Drink lots of water.
  • My skin has always been horrible. Since going on this diet, it looks much, much better.

TMI, but I'm even PMSing right now and only have a couple of zits, where before I'd have a full-on breakout.

It cleared my skin up. Hang in there. I agree with pp that you may just be flushing out the toxins. Make sure you are drinking LOTS of water - like 12 cups a day. That really helps flush everything out.
  • Thanks everyone! I am drinking tons of water and it is starting to go away =]

My skin is doing much better too, but it went through an adjustment period in the beginning.

I am pretty sure its normal part of the change. Like everyone else mentioned, drink water, it will help your skin too!

And don't forget, many people go through a "keto rash." It will clear up as well.

    Only just seen this thread.

Have been wondering lately why I seem to be covered in small, dry patches of skin, and getting spots on my face, arms, legs, when I have never had spots in my life before.

Also the palms of my hands are all scaly, itchy and flaking.
