Hi All! Love the premise of this group :flowerforyou:

I like being active & strong! I made great gains in strength & lowered by body fat % last year while having a mostly low-meat low-dairy diet. I don't really have a moral reason- just feel its better for my body and the environment (the Forks over Knives documentary helped form my opinion).
Ive recently gained weight over the holiday season - totally blew my diet & exercise habits I had formed last year.! :ohwell:
I want to get back into it! Ive done some research online & constantly see how much protein is recommended. It is hard for me to do this on a mostly vegan diet.

How important is it to eat lots of protein?

(keeping in mind im not doing competition.. just a normal woman who wants to be strong & lose body fat. )
I see like 1X body weight in grams.. but I have a hard time even getting half that!

Thanks! Im currently 155 lbs, 5'5" (i would guess ~ 25% BF)

I was wondering about non-meat protein sources too. Mostly for budget reasons.
I'm happy to eat lentil burgers, bowls full of beans and all that, I'm just not sure
how well it is for protein. for each 'serving' on a can of beans it lists 6g protein
I think they were chick peas, but the legumes are all pretty similar in protein
    from what I remember.

but I'm not sure how effective that is in getting in our protein,
even if I'm combining with a little meat, eggs, tofu, or tuna.
