First time on a treadmill

I'm going to be at a hotel four days a week until June, so two of my weekly runs will be on a treadmill in the hotel gym. Normally I run outside, and I haven't been on a treadmill in about 20 years.
Any tips that will make the transition smoother? I assume I can program in the day's run/walk pattern. I have read that the incline should be set at 1-2%; what pace should I be at? If the treadmill is actually easier then I would expect the pace to be faster.

If you have never been on a treadmill before then I would advise to not be surprised at finding it to be a lot harder than you think. I started on the treadmill running, and transitioned to outside. Today was the first time I ran on a treadmill in almost a month and to be honest I found it super hard, and I had the incline set at 2%. I would advise maybe using the time at the hotel to cross train...maybe on an elliptical or a bike instead. Some HIITs would be a great break from running and they will help you get in and out in a short time.0

Switching your routine is always hard. Just take it easy and run slow. You'll find your pace. A 1.5 incline is closer to outdoors.0
