Hi All...I'm Cheryl and while I don't have diabetes...I am pre-diabetic. So taking cautionary steps to prevent passing through that door.
I've only started a week ago but I have attended one diabetes class at the advice of my doctor and I do check my levels. Right now I check 4 times a day but I was told that since I am pre-diabetic, after a few days I can drop down to just in the morning. Thinking to keep me in check I will keep up the 4 times for a while...just until I have my diet and exercise plans completely in check.
Things right now are hectic because I will be moving in a month and half from a house to an apartment. Since I have a large dog and will have no yard to speak of, I will be walking him at least 3 times a day so that routine will keep me active.
My biggest problem right now, until I move,is fitting in the exercise. I seem to be constantly running here or there after work everyday except Fridays! So, most of my exercise is weekends....walked/jogged 3 miles this morning .. took me 45 minutes. Pretty happy with that right now.
Well..off to the store I go for more fruits and veggies for the week.
Have a great day all.

Welcome Cheryl! It already sounds like you are ready to make the changes you need for your health. My doctor has said that even just 15 minutes a day is good. The imprtant thing is just to get moving. You can find exercise videos on youtube or just a short walk. If you make it a priority, you will find the time.0

Cheryl,
I'm glad you have joined MFP and are into eating right and exercising!! That definitely will help out the pre-diabetes. Please do try and fit in some exercise throughout the week, as that will be so good for you and what you are trying to do. I'm also proud of you for getting out there this morning and putting in 3 miles!! That is a lot!! Tell your dog to walk you often I hope you find this group helpful too Cheryl. Thanks for letting us know you are here!
