Two weeks out...

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say hello. I just joined MFP this morning because I'm exactly two weeks away from having gastric bypass. Today I started my pre-surgery diet which I'm a little nervous / anxious about being able to maintain for the next two weeks.
I'm determined to do exactly what the doctors tell me. I thought it would be a great idea to get additional support from other places. I'm glad I found this group on MFP.
Thanks,
Justin

Congratulations. This is such an exciting time. You are going to get through the next 2 weeks with no problems...becasue yo are determined to make this surgery work. Log on frequently to get encouragement. Good luck!0 -
hello and congrats on your new journey.
I had RNY on 5-9-12 and even with the ups and downs I couldn't be more happy with myself. I have lost over 100 lbs and I haven't been this small in many years.
do what the doc says and get yourself some sf popsicle cause they can help with cravings. take front and side photos when you go get weighed and keep a diary of you journey. this way you can see your progress when you hit your goal.
good luck to you!0 -
Welcome. I am less than eight months out from RNY and wouldn't change a thing. Just remember, the better you do on the preop diet, the easier the surgeon's job will be. And that is one job you want to make as easy as possible.
Log everything! When people fall off the wagon, it's partly because they stop logging, or estimate instead of weighing and measuring. The closer you track your intake, the easier it will be.0 -
Hey, Justin! I am really excited for you. I had RNY in March 2012 and my husband had his a month later in March 2012. Best decision we've ever made! He was in a size 52 pants and now wears a loose 36. My best advice to you, aside from following your doctor's advice, which you already mentioned, is exercise!!! No matter what your fitness level is now, take that first step and move! You'll be amazed at how much you will build your endurance. We were compassionately in love with being couch potatoes, but now we are at the gym 5 days a week and actually like it and look forward to it. We wouldn't have lost what we have in such a short amount of time without the exercise and we certainly wouldn't be as fit as we are now. It's an amazing feeling and I'm so excited for you, too!!!0
