I'm currently working on my 500 hour RYT, and it occurs to me that many people do not know what certifications their teacher holds. Do you know?

My teacher: 500 EYRT, Iyengar Certification Intro 2 (a lot harder than one might think), Ashtanga training with David Swenson, and Anusara Inspired.

What about yours?

hooray for training! I've been looking for a 200hour RYT I can work into my schedule.

I have 2 teachers and they have various certificates (incl the 500 ERYT) and training with David Swenson, Nancy Gilgoff, Shiva Rea and others. One of them has so many certificates.... The studio I go to lists the instructors certs on their website. I must be naive because I thought most had instructor certs available to students like that.

My first teacher was 500RYT with Dave (Ashtanga) and Cheryl Oliver (Sanskrit, Vedic Chant, Philosophy)
My current teacher is a 200ERYT with Jonny Kest (Ashtanga Vinyasa) and Level 2 with Baron Baptiste (Power Vinyasa)

I have heard good things about David Swenson. My training was 500 hrs. but I do not hear of that often. I think you will really get a lot out of it.

:flowerforyou: The teacher I take class from here did her training years ago at Kripalu and got grandfathered in to Yoga Alliance because she has been teaching for over 30 years.

I really do not know but have been wondering. I am starting to read a lot about Yoga since its becoming such a huge part of my life. My teachers definitely seem to be doing Ashtanga but I haven't confirmed that.

Congrats to be working on your 500 hour RYT! I hope to some day get to that place.

yes, doug and david swenson are good instructors.

I have to say that most yoga certifications do not included what is covered in certified personal training, and I recommend getting that as well.

I am amazed at how many certified by some fly by night program or over the internet or a weekend workshop instructors exist! ugh.

It seems like most major cities have a yoga studio on every corner, with classes led by some gymnast or ballerina. :(
