You must not be wearing the right PJ's

Did #22 stress anyone else out or was that just me?

No, as a kitchen designer, I just thought " Why is there a shelf above the cooker with a microwave on it. Leaning over a cooker to get above is dangerous. Also, it's not safe to put a cooker that close to a sink -water and electrics! :noway:

Other than that, I wonder if that adjacent door is hanging off simply because the oven door bashes it every time it's opened.

    But no, I wasn't stressed........lol

Anna is the cooker a stove? A lot of people have a microwave above the stove instead of a hood (at least in America!)

    it sure is! :flowerforyou:

I think our health and safety laws here a very different to yours. As is our voltage. The leading cause of kitchen fires is having your 'stove' too close to horizontal and vertical surfaces. You must have a clear 300mm (12in) either side and 750mm (30in) above the stove. It can't be next to a window, sink, wall etc. The laws have tightened up somewhat over the years to prevent accidents happening.

I find it really strange that you would put a m/w over a hob. Not only because you have to lean over a potentially hot area, but the food you're taking out is hot and at a high level? A m/w shouldn't be any higher than eye level, to prevent spillage etc.

American's do not like to clutter the countertops so they like to mount the microwave usually above the stovetop.

:noway: How do you use the m/w and stove at the same time without burning your clothes?

This is typical set up here. Extractor above hob. Microwave at eye level above oven.

It's usually close enough to you that you don't have to reach over or up. It's just at your face.

The fronts usually line up so there is no leaning over.
