Taking a Break?

I was reading about "deloading" in another forum for people who lift heavy. Any thoughts on whether this would be necessary at some point doing this program? What would make you decide to either take a week off (or longer) or do maybe easier versions of each exercise for a week or more? If you failed to progress over a period of time? Feeling exhausted all the time? Just curious to hear your thoughts on this!

I took a two week break after finishing the 10 week cycle. I only meant for it to be a week, but got sick so didn't start back up for an extra week. When I started again, I was surprised at how much stronger I was. Instead of being able to do 10 pushups, I was able to do 30! Taking a break every once in awhile gives your muscles a chance to fully repair. I'm planning on taking 1-2 weeks off in between cycles now since it seemed to be so restorative.

Thanks! I should have specified that i'm doing Body By You (his new book) - the cycles are 4 weeks long. I'm finishing up Cycle 2 tomorrow. Plan has been to do 3 cycles (12 weeks) and reevaluate and I'm still continuing to progress in all categories, just feeling a little extra tired.

I think I'm going to try to finish the 12 weeks and then take a week off and see how I feel!
