Knees bending inwards while squatting...why?

I was squatting ( 100lbs) and I noticed that my knees were bending inwards on my way up...It has never happened before...So, then I did just body weight squats and my knees were fine.....A trainer had noticed this and he came over and said that I had weak adductors and that I should be doing the leg adductor machine to strengthen my inner thighs and get over muscle imbalance..
If i have weak adductor muscles what exercises do i need to be doing to strengthen them? Should I just lower the weight on squats and practise more?

The trainer is incorrect, it's your abductor muscles that are weak
this issue was discussed yesterday: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/955921-assistance-exercises-knees
Also, when you squat, make sure you're focusing on "pulling the floor apart with your feet" on your way up. You will feel your abductors flexing when you do this.0
