shin splints?

Hi was just wondering if any one has ever had this injury, I had never heard of it before but I sure know what it is now and it is seriously beginning to hinder my exercise, any advice on how to heal it or how long it should take would be greatfully received. It has been bugging me now for 3 weeks and has gotten gradually worse, I know I should not have ignored it but I desperately needed to finish insanity and now I have and just want it to hurry up and get better so I can start again on a new programme.

A few things I would try. First, you may really need to rest. ICE - ice - ice (this really helps!!!), Stretch and try to strengthen your calves as much as possible - they're inter-related. Plus, since you're doing insanity or any other exercise for that matter...modify, modify, modify...Don't continue to hurt yourself and make it worse!0
