Just finished doing 30DShred level 3. I usually do the RI30 dvd's, not sure why I never do the Shred ones, I did get a good workout. After I was done, I did 50 squat kicks and a few arm exercises. I might add in a few more before I shower.
Sherry - I hope that you can get your shin trouble figured out, my hubby has compression socks and he loves them. It could even be your sneakers....you could get that checked out as well.
Jess - a well deserved rest day for you!! Hope you kick butt today
Toni - sounds like you probably got a lot of calories burned off at the lake yesterday!
Pam - 80* to 37*! yikes!! lol
Marla - hope your hike was a good one! Enjoy the nice temps. We are not really enjoying them here. LOL
ctpeace - you are obviously doing something right! WTG I think I expect results too soon and get myself discouraged. I know I just have to keep plugging along.
LizardQueen - and you did it anyway!!! WTG!
AuntSammy - I am interested in this In Bed workout! lol I might have to check it out on youtube!
Well, hope you all have a great eating and workout kind of day
ENJOY0 -
The Lake was quite peaceful
Back to reality...so not sure which workout I will do but I would like to keep my workouts 45min + so we shall see. have a great day everyone.0 -
Maureen, I LOVE 30 Day Shred and am gonna start it again soon. Spring Break for my son is about to begin, so I'll probably do 30DS starting then.
As for the shins, I doubt it's my shoes, since I've been having this problem since I was 13. I just am very prone to get them. I have to really, really watch my landings and one mistake and kaput! I think compression socks are the answer, but have to find them here. The girl at the Adidas store said to try a pharmacy. Greece is very strange like that, things are sold in unexpected places, so I'll have to try a pharmacy or medical device store. haha! Anyway, timed the hill and learned that it takes about 1/3 of a lap (by time). I make a lap in about 6min jogging, today the hill took nearly 2min. So, yeah, it stinks!!
Toni, a nice peaceful lake sounds sublime!

So today has been challenging for getting in my workout. I decided just to do my Hunger Games exercises at home, but got interrupted by a call from my husband. At the park, I ran the hill a couple times to time it, but mostly walked. It was quite hot in Athens today and something in the air was making my nose burn. One of the "regulars" at the park waved to me! Maybe I will talk to him someday. There are lots of marathon runners there who are busy training and improving their speed, but there are a few "regulars" who are just there to do their daily run. Anyway, I got interrupted by my husband AGAIN, he needed me home with lil girl so he could go tend to some work, so good thing I wasn't running since I wouldn't've even gotten to stretch after! Cut it short, less than an hour total...but my son was happy to see me picking him up from his tutor 45 minutes early! haha
Well, everyone have a great day!!! Tomorrow is my "official" weighing day (for the Hunger Games)...and I think I'm gonna have my FIRST EVER SCALE VICTORY!! (stay tuned)0 -
Sherry - I will be looking forward to hearing about the scale-victory tomorrow! and you know what, guess where my hubby bought his first pair of compression socks. The Pharmacy!! haha That is true. They have a section for that type of stuff, kind of where you can get walkers and wheelchairs and stuff.0

Hi All,
Ran 3 mi this morning, it wasn't pretty, but I did it (still sore, went very slow)! Also, I think I get extra points because there was some drizzle and I did it anyways:bigsmile:
In other news, I'm under 200lbs now! I got down here briefly about a month ago, but you may remember my whining about poor food choices on travel and weekends, which bumped me back up:grumble: the victory is that I did NOT throw in the towel, and I'm more determined than ever!
Sherry: Yay for scale victory to come!!! here's some info from personal experience that might help in your hunt for the right gear:
On compression socks: I don't know their effects on shin splints, but I had to get some when I was pregnant to reduce swelling in ankles, they increase blood flow. I found out at the running store there are 2 different kinds. The ones at the pharmacy (what I got) have more compression at the bottom and gradually get looser closer to the top, the compression sleeves and socks you see specifically for runners usually are tight the whole way through. Apparently this is because they're pushing bloodflow down and up, whereas the pharmacy ones are focused only on the upward flow. If you're looking for the running ones, you likely won't find them at the pharmacy and might have to go online or something. I'm seriously considering a pair for long runs, so let me know how it goes!
Liz: That's SO a t-shirt I want: I did it anyways!!! You are a rockstar!
Maureli: Absolutely! Slow and steady wins the race! I am not fast by anyone's calculations, (esp. today!) but I'm making it happen one day at a time. Don't get discouraged, progress is progress!0 -
I take Nia dance class at my gym, combo of yoga, jazz, tai-chee and a bunch of other stuff, actually 7 things.
Went to that this morning, it was a more energetic one today, lots of sweat! I like it because it not only makes me move but also has a lot of stretching and flexibility in it and even some core stuff and strength…good all over.
Now I am going to make a big pot of soup, sometimes I just need something healthy, low calorie and filling.
Lots of sun here today. :happy:0 -
hi everyone, yesterday was a rest day. This afternoon I biked 10 miles-gosh I am tired of this wind. But felt great to be outside. I read all the posts but no time for shout outs. Looks like everyone is doing great. Good luck on the hunger games weigh in. TOOT TOOT0

Today was a walkathon/jogathon at work. The entire school went to the track and walked or jogged. I walked at least 2 miles (probably more...chasing around kiddos!) and ran around the track for 1/3 of a mile. So much fun!! The purpose of the walkathon was to celebrate the kids earning money for our school. They worked so hard and over $23,000 was donated. So proud of my little ones.0

marla: that NIA class sounds wonderful. Wish there were videos. I've never actually taken any kind of exercise class, not even when I was younger. Don't know why really. Now it's because of having kids etc. But I really have grown to love working out at home. But all that different influence in one class sounds like alot of fun variety.
sammy: that's great! Good for the school and for the kids!
ctpeace: thanks for the info on compression socks. I have in mind what I want...it's like a slightly rigid (maybe neoprene) sleeve (not sock) for the shins. Now, whether I'll find it in Greece or not...idk. But since Greece is weird, if they exist, they probably exist at the pharmacy or at these special medical device stores. Greece is weird b/c of the tax code, you have to declare what you will sell in your store and pay an allowance for each "type". Which means you can find "lightbulb stores" and "spice stores" and clothing stores never sell shoes...only shoe stores. It's very strange and takes some getting used to.
maureen: yeah the so-called "medical device store" in Greece that I'm talking about is just like that section of your pharmacy...crutches, slings for broken arms, walkers, special shoes, rails for bathrooms, and stuff
Okay, so since it's tomorrow already here, I'm going to go bump the new thread and make my announcement...sooo excited!0 -
So I did get a 25min workout in that had me sounding like an asthmatic crazy.FB-Fit is better then skinny....tough cardio workout...I need to read everyone's post.
Good job everyone0 -
Thu – Finally got around to putting in a 60 minute walk by splitting it in half. Had an extra busy day so just now getting here to update.
Toni: good for you getting in a tough cardio session and glad you had a nice time at the lake.
Everyone put in the time today...WTG!!0
