30 Hours and thought I'd say hello!

Hi friends,
It's been 30 hours and only twice have I thought about pulling my hair out and both times have been immediately after eating....I'm chewing gum at the moment because my skin is crawling.
Thought I'd join this group for additional support and love. I am using the patch as my aid and that seems to really help take the edge off.
So hello all!

Hello and welcome to the non-smokers club! The great news is that you are in the worst of it right now. It does get better...a lot better! I quit cold turkey and Day 3 I hot my low...man, it was rough. But it slowly got better and better after that, the cravings less and less.

Hang in there, it is hard but so unbelievably worth it!

It was definitely easier for me after the first week or two. I also chewed gum almost 24/7 for the first several weeks to keep my mind off of wanting a cigarette.

I also used the patch as a way to quit smoking; I don't know why I didn't try it sooner. Granted, some people think it is expensive but when you compare it to the price of a carton of cigarettes then you are saving money.

    Keep up the good work!

THANKS!!! I'm happy, excited and VERY PROUD to say that I'm on my 101th HOUR of not smoking!!! :) The patch is really helping and I've changed my morning routine, cleaned my car windows and plan on vacuuming and detailing the inside on Saturday. Since it is no longer a smoking vehicle it needs to feel and smell that way too.

I have a gut feeling about this time and I appreciate your support so very very much!!!

    THANK YOU!!

Congrats!! I'm on day 101....my wicked bad day was day 2. For most it's day 3 I think. 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months are tough milestones I've heard. Actually I just passed the 3 month mark and for some reason I had been thinking about it a lot. Not craving so much as just thinking about it. Perhaps it's the 3 month thing, but I think it's more that the weather is getting nicer here and that's what we used to do when we would get outside. :)

It really does get easier....I quit cold turkey from smoking a pack per day. Holy Moly it was rough!! But....like others have said, just power through and sooner than later, each day gets easier! I smell the smoke on people now and can't believe that that was once me....it really is gross. lol

Just keep reminding yourself that you will never have to go through the quitting process again! You've done it!!! Great job!

It's gone well. In some aspects better than I thought and in some a little harder than I thought....

I changed up my morning routine, even drive a different route to work. Instead of going to the local stop for coffee and a pack of smokes I have tea in the morning and take a different road so I don't drive past my local stop.

At lunch I used to crave getting in my car driving away and pulling out a good book and smoking as much as I could during my lunch hour. Now, I eat within the building with my book avoiding my car.

I have found that my resolve to stay quite slids when I am overly tired. When I'm completely exhausted which has happened twice this week due to outdoor/fresh air activities that my mind power is less and I crave my old friend. I've been reading a lot this week which I enjoy so that boredom doesn't give me the excuse to smoke.

So all in all though I'd say it's better than I thought it would be and the patch has really really helped and I'm looking forward to lowering my dose of that and getting off them completely.

One lovely benefit is my sweetheart who is a non-smoker rarely french kissed me unless ya know we were um......etc. You get my point. However, the last 5 days I've had more passionate kisses than I can count and that's something that is a huge turn on for me and something that I want in my life. :) - His support has been wonderful and very welcome and has made me appreciate him even more.

Thank you all for checking in with me. I'll keep coming back to this board because of the accountability it allows me!! Much gratitude to you all! XO

The book is a bit weird, kinda like a bad sales person trying to get you to buy stuff. I think really its just trying to drum facts into your head so stick with it until the end. Your doing great

I think I might have turned a corner. I spent all day with my mom yesterday who is a smoker and she only smoked twice while I was there and she smokes outside when she has company but the only time I even thought about smoking the entire time was after I had dinner.

The moments are becoming fewer where I even think about smoking. It's sooooooo wonderful! My taste and smell has gotten more acute and this is a beautiful thing.

I have such a wonderful feeling about this!

Both my mother and boyfriend are smokers so I understand the temptation. I keep reminding myself that I could deal with the stress before I started smoking and that if I do then I will be letting myself down. It seems to work most days but if it gets really bad I have an electronic cigarette that I use. The fluid I bought for it does not contain any nicotine. Doesn't "fix" the problem but definitely makes it easier for me.

I've also realized, again as it's happened several times in my weight loss journey that when I get overly tired/bored/sad/upset my go to's were food, smokes, cocktails.

I had a pretty long day yesterday at work and some things are changing at work and all I wanted to do was go to a local pub, sit in the beautiful weather BY MYSELF and have a cocktail and a smoke.

Instead I went home, organized my closet a bit, made dinner (A nice salad) and spent some alone time reading Allen Carr's Easyway Book.

Over the course of my starting my healing I know that I've always looked outside of myself for comfort from stress/lonliness/boredom/anger etc.etc. etc. I am aware of it and I have been and continue to work on finding the peace from within.

I'm really enjoying reading the book and I truly believe in my heart of hearts when I am finished I'll be taking this patch off and I am free :)

    Was just doing my check-in :) 25 Days :)

Fabulous! You sound like your doing great! The thought will still enter your mind for months afterwards but its not a craving its just because smoking was a part of everyday life and you'll maybe do something you've not done since you've been a non smoker so its a weird situation. Example I'm going on holiday soon and I've never been on holiday as a non smoker, I'm sharing a room with my old fellow smoker so its odd as I've not been in this situation.
Keep coming back 25 days is awesome!

Keep it up. Things get better, and better.
I quit cold turkey 16 weeks ago and have no regrets. For years before I finally stopped I had this growing sense of rage about cigarettes and my apparent inability to stop smoking. Stopping is the best thing I ever did for myself.
Cherish the fact that you have stopped smoking, because it's truly awsome!
Be amazed that you have stopped smoking!
Revel in the fact that you have stopped smoking!
