Munchies?

I quit smoking two months ago and have been having trouble with craving sweets and other snacks. I have been working on substituting chips and other unhealthy snacks with pretzels, popcorn (no butter), and fresh veggies/fruits.

I heard that nicotine increases your heart rate and thus your metabolism drops when you quit smoking.

Although I only smoked for two years, it is difficult for me to recall if I was this snacky before I started smoking.

Does anyone have any advice about how I can stop myself from being so hungry all of the time?

I have already tried drinking more water and have found that it only subsides my appetite for about an hour.

I am having the exact same problem! I smoked off and on for about 15 years and then decided I wanted to quit smoking. Quit a month ago and crave sweets and other junk but I just don't know how to make the cravings stop. I have tried fruit and alternatives that are good for you like organic applesauce but nothing is working all that great! Please someone help us to figure out what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eggs are a good filler. I bought lots of kids size fruits to snack on and drank a million cups of tea lol

I would eat a really pungent candy when a craving for junk reared its ugly head. I used Newman's Own Ginger Mints. Sour candies worked too for few calories. I was able to quit cold turkey without gaining weight. Also, I would have an internal dialogue with myself, asking: am I really hungry? usually the answer was no, I just want something, anything. Hence the ginger mints :)

Just an update for you guys and gals. I have found that by eating more protein and drinking my recommended 8 glasses of water that I am not usually hungry in between meals. Either that or perhaps my cigarette cravings have finally subsided.
