I have been looking at everyones post for the last month or so trying to decide how I want to better get in shape. I decided yesterday to order the book "New Rules of Weightlifting for Women" from Amazon and I am joining a gym next week. My question is my son who is 16 years old and has no prior lifting experience is joining the gym with me. Would he benefit from the guidelines of the book also or should I find a different book for him?

Yes he would, because the premise is actually "Lift like a man..." Now whether or not he will be willing to follow along is a totally different question.0 -
NROL4W is really just for "beginner" lifters....despite the "Women" moniker in the name (imho).
If your son doesn't want to carry a book, with that title, around the gym, you can always just photocopy the pages with the work-outs and he can append them to a clip-board and carry on with it!
Also, I have done NROL4Abs - he'd love that (and so would you) - and also NROL4LIfe has more of a "beginner lifter" bent to it, as well.
Enjoy!0 -
may i suggest getting a trainer for a few sessions (perhaps you can both be there at the same time)
he could go over basics and help with good form, which is SOOOO important!
good form= less chance of injury!!! (in my opinion)0
