Crutches for long walks to prevent tilting into pavement

I've taken up walking with crutches for my exercise walks because they keep me more upright. I pace with them on opposite sides (e.g. right foot forward=left crutch forward) and have them set with one longer than the other for my high side. I find this keeps me walking upright and reduces pain and numbness that I often get on my right hip/thigh when walking. The only hazard is nailing hubby with a crutch when we walk together.:ohwell:

oh, and you see a cane in my profile pic -- that was what I tried before the crutches for long walks but it only made me screw down toward my lower side and made pain worse.0

have you tried walking poles or arm braces? The amount of time I've spent on crutches (blown knee, pelvis fracture) have made me loathe them for the tension they create in my shoulders and upper back.0
