Hey all!!
Pam, I hope you're feeling better. These 1 or 2 day digestive problems that come along from time to time are strange. Good for you to listen to your body and adjust accordingly.
Julie, that's a tough schedule you have with such a long commute & living in 2 different places. It takes great commitment to keep up in those circumstances. Very inspiring. It certainly makes all my excuses null & void.
Toni, babysteps are good. I love that there's so much variety to choose from on FB--all lengths and difficulty levels. A new video comes out today according to their facebook message. I love to see what they've worked on lately. Can't wait for the new website launch so we can search workouts according to length, equipment, difficulty, etc.
Okay, so I did a few HG reps last night so I wouldn't feel like a potted plant. The HG challenge is 8 weeks and we are starting week 3. So we have about 6 weeks left. Besides the weekly exercises, we must meet cardio minutes goals. So I still will be doing afternoon workouts (walk/jog). The exercises are great. Last week of course was squats & dips. This week it's mountain climbers (UGH!) and wood choppers (which are totally new to me). NOW, if my husband would just GO.BACK.TO.WORK so things can return to normal around here. Today I got a nice little workout moving furniture, and cleaning and rolling up our huge Winter rug. I'm glad to see it go, since it's been very hot lately...but I'm gonna be needing my yoga mat more than ever!
Hope we'll start to see some more of the usual suspect pop in this week!!0 -
Good morning everyone
Very happy to report that I did indeed get my run in after work yesterday. 8K! I rarely do that distance on an after work run, so I am quite pleased with myself. hehe Today I woke up to fog, but it is suppose to clear. I am thinking about running again today since it is giving rain for a few days. We'll see. I usually try to alternate run days and strength days.
Will be alone here today, high-school boy will be at school, Univeristy boy will be at work, and dh....will be fishing - he is a lobster fisherman. Sounds good, lobsters, but he doesn't like them, so he doesn't bring them home often.
Sherry - have a good day with those mountian climbers and wood choppers. We use to do both of those in my strenght/cardio class. The mountian climbers will certainly get your heart rate up there!
ctpeace - I have the same sort of thing happen to me too, except my weight is always up on Mondays. It seems to go back down fairly quickly but it kind of keeps you from getting ahead. frustrating!
Toni - I know exactly what you are saying, I don't like the looks of those over-fit people either. I just want to be toned with a bit of meat, and look good in a pair of jeans. haha
Pam - glad that you are feeling better and got in a good walk/interval session. Good for you!
Jules - wow, 5 hrs is a lot of driving! But good that your food was in check. Hope you get your run and strength in today!
Have a great day everyone!0 -
Good Day Tuesday Partners!
I like today's poster above because I would have quit a long time ago if I concerned myself with "slow progress". I've learned that it takes my body a while to make changes but they have and do come eventually. I am 100% healthier and fit than three years ago for sure (when I started being consistent).
I feel soooo much better than yesterday and it was reflected in this workout...lol. P90X Shoulders & Arms was even better this week because I went heavier in 8 of the 12 exercises! I did the one round (about 41 mins) of each exercise hitting shoulders, biceps & triceps with dumbbell sets of 6.25, 7.5, 10, 11.25, 12.5, and 13.75 pounds. With the use of heavier weights, there was a cardio effect felt in 5 exercises. This week I was able to do 12 reps of the Crouching Cohen Curls using the 12.5 lb set (last week I could only do 6 of them…go figure…lol). I didn’t need to lower the weight for that one as I had planned to do…lol. Whew!
Julie: what will your 12 week challenge consist of? Is it to do with just weight lifting or includes your runs? My goodness...you DO drive a long ways for work!
Toni: good for you getting in a workout and 20 minutes is not a "baby" session but we know you go for longer. Twenty minutes can involved HIGH intensity, too...heehee. It's good that you are raring to go at your pace again...you rock!
Maureen: you exceeded your own expectation with that run on yesterday...wooohooo! Ohhh...my guys would LOVE love to take those lobsters off your DH's hands any time...LOL! Enjoy your day alone...I enjoy mine...heehee.
Sherry: as you can tell from my post I am feeling GOOD this morning! I don't know WHAT got to me on yesterday but happy it seems to have left my body alone. That HG Challenge sounds like a good one....how many cardio minutes do you have to meet as a goal? I may join such a challenge one of these days. LOL at you wanting DH to go back to work. Mine gets next to my nerves while he is AT work (phones me too much...LOL) so I really prefer when he is at home. At home he spends 99% of the time outdoors out of my way....LMBO!! We love them anyway...right?
Everyone have a TERRIFIC Tuesday and remember that "slow progress" is STILL progress!0 -
Hello Everyone,
I did a Chest/Back routine in the early morning following a 3 mile run which I completed in 25:53 minutes. It is only 11:45 and I have already drank my eight glasses of water for the day and I am continuing to stay hydrated. I have my first weigh in tomorrow for the 12 week challenge and I am nervous. But it is just a number and that is what I have to keep telling myself!!!
Pam: That is awesome that you were able to increase your weights and reps during your P90X workout! Just stick to it and you will see how much you will improve by the end of the program you are going to whip through the exercises. The 12 week Challenge is you weigh-in every Wednesday and they have weekly challenges this week it is jumping jacks and crunches per day. Something to add to the half marathon training schedule.
Maureen: You should give yourself a pat on the back for having the dedication to run after work. You could have come up with so many excuses NOT to do your run but you DIDN'T! That is good that you separate your running and strength training. Keep going!
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!0 -
Hi all, thanks for the input, Maureli, I'm in the same boat, Monday's weight is always up, and yes, it's very frustrating. So yesterday's workout didn't happen, this morning's didn't either, but I WILL run after work. It will involve a baby-jogger and probably not be very fast, but I've gotta just do it.
In other news, the little angel in the picture turned on me yesterday, I got bit in the middle of Rite-Aid. small bruise on shoulder, larger one on ego He was very apologetic later, he knew he'd crossed a line. We're going to have to be a bit more pro active about discipline I guess.
Motivation is low this morning but I WILL push through!0 -
Sounds like everyone is doing good. I got a full blown head cold that kicked in Saturday, so I've been a leaky nose mess since then and haven't worked out. Maybe I'll get it done this evening...0

Ok...I'm back. To be honest, I had some time of "falling off the bandwagon". Then I sprained my ankle last week. It's better, but the doc says to ease back into running. Not sure how, but I'm maintaining my weight. Still...I feel yuck. It's amazing how stopping exercise can make you feel gross. So...here we go. Fresh start. I'm off to a 60 minute yoga class!
-Sam
PS: Happy Teacher Appreciation Day to my fellow educators!0 -
Sorry I haven't been checking in but PT took me off all exercise again Be Back soon I hope. Keep up the good work everyone0

Oh now you guys! Everybody get well! Liz, hope your cold gets better. Sammy, hope your ankle is 100% and the unyucky feeling returns. scrook, hope everything's okay and you continue to mend well. I know you must be bursting at the seams.0
