Tips with Emotional Eating?

I've noticed that my determination seems to waver a lot when I'm feeling sad, down, sleepy etc. I really want to be able to stop this happening! I am not able to stop some things that are causing me to emotionally eat... I would really like to know if anyone has any advice on this and maybe some tips? It would be very much appreciated!!

Make a list of things you like doing like if you're in the middle of a great book, include reading, if you have fun unpainting and repainting your toe nails, or calling a certain friend, put those on the list. Do another list of things you have been meaning to get done, like sorting through old pics, cleaning your room, organizing your closet. When you are feeling emotionally hungry instead of going to the kitchen and eating, do something off the list.
This mostly helps me because I often eat when I'm bored. The lists remind me I actually have things I should be doing0
