I will finally run my first official 5k tomorrow. Today would be intervaltraining according to my bridge to 10k plan. I plan to do it but some people say I shouldn´t do it before the run. Should I just run a slow 3k instead? Or not run at all? Please give me some advice!!!

Most training plans I looked at have a short run the day before the race. For a 5K just go out and run an easy 2K or so. And a slow, easy run the day after a race is helpful for recovery.

    Good luck!!

Really, it all depends on you. But, I agree with Time, you really shouldn't do anything but and easy run the day before a race. That allows your body to recover from what it did previously that week, but helps you maintain the fitness level you are achieving in B210K.

Thank you! I did this fast 5k walk yesterday, still feel my legs a bit. So I will go out later for an easy 2-3k run.

I usually don't run a day or two before a 5k, though it's not really necessary to taper. An easy mile or two won't hurt you.
