Why was I scared of the final week?

I don't know why I had myself so psyched out about this final week. I just finished the first day and I did it with no problems at all. I even ran an extra 8 minutes after it was over to finish the course for my 5K. It was all in my head. So next time you are psyching yourself out, just remember----it's not your legs giving out, its your head giving up.

Yep - it's very much a mental thing by then. Congrats on putting in some extra credit. You're almost there!

Thank you for the encouragement. I am starting to love my runs, especially when I am really sweaty and then the wind blows and cools me off. It gives me a second wind...those moments are my favorite!

Yeah, I  running. Week 9 is usually pretty easy. You're so well conditioned by then. What's your next step?

Its actually week 8. I am doing a slightly different program called 5k 101. I started using the running mate app based off that program before i knew about c25k. Week 8 is the last week and it is a big jump from 12 minute runs intervals with 3 minutes walking in between (in week 7) to running the full 30 minutes in week 8. But I did it with no problem. I am so proud of myself.

I am running a 5k next saturday, and then I will sign up for a few more and work on my speed for a while. Come fall I would like to start a 10k program.

Wow! That is a big jump. Good for you!!!

I would actually recommend starting on a 10k program almost immediately. It will help you work on your speed as well as increasing your weekly running mileage which is even more important for you as a runner right now.

I was thinking I might do that, but just do it slowly, maybe doing each week 2 or 3 times over. Do you reccomend a specific program?

I *didn't* do that, but ended up following a training plan that's pretty similar. A lot of people get the zen labs one.
