Nearing goal weight. Lots more BF to lose. Need a plan

I'm currently weighing in at 78kg (and BF is 19%). My goal weight originally was 75kg. I'm currently happy with my general size, with the exception of my skinny arms and stomach which isn't flat yet.

I want to get my BF% down to around 12%. I also want to get stronger and build some muscle.

Over the past few weeks I've raised my net calorie intake up to 2080. My TDEE is around 2350.

Now, do i .....

a) keep the small deficit and keep cutting for a while longer before starting a bulk
b) eat at maintenance, and see if any re-composition happens whilst not cutting/bulking
c) start a slow bulk now

How long have you been lifting for and what is your height?
Can you post a pic in the bodyfat estimation thread?

Based on your description it sounds like you're saying that you're skinny-fat, and I don't think there's a universal answer but seeing a pic would at least give us a better idea.

    Am 5' 10".
Been lifting for at least 6 months.
Only just finished SL5x5 moving onto a 3 day split program. Dead lift is at 130kg, squat at 90kg, ohp at 40kg, bench at 60kg.

I wouldn't say I was skinny fat. More normal fat.

No nudie pics on internet, but can sort one. Genuinely reckon bf is at 19%.

If your bf is 19% and you want it to be then 12% then you need to keep cutting.

Forget about goal weights they are irrelevant.:

Wouldn't bother trying to recomp at maintenance it will just take even longer. Have 1 goal and nail that instead of trying to accomplish 2-3 things at once.

^^this is what I would do.

Also, why are you changing from SL to a split routine?

    Honestly, got bored of it.
New program looks good, still has the compound lifts in there.. I'll give it 3 months before thinking about going back to SL.

Honestly it sounds like we're in a pretty similar position. Around the same sort of weight and bf% after cutting from very similar starting weight, and have been lifting for a similar amount of time too!

My situation: I'm going to keep cutting, I have found myself being guilty of constantly looking for new ways of doing things, switching up my eating and training plans too much. I've tried large deficits, small deficits, cycling, recomposition........... all for not long enough of with not enough discipline!

The underlying answer (for me at least) is to cut until I'm sub 12% - the scale number is a rough guide but pretty much irrelevant. Nothing else matters at this point.

If you only stick with a program for 3 months at a stretch you're in for a tough time once you get to an intermediate level.

Find something that makes sense, and adopt a philosophy that's flexible enough for you to change it so that you don't get bored.
