Who takes these? I just started to see if they help keep my sugars lower. I am doing pretty good overall but still struggle with my a.m. fasting b.s.

Good Morning, momjmd... I came across articles in various magazine and health journals about 7-8 years ago on science findings through clinical studies indicating Cinnamon helped with sugar levels everyone, but especially people with pre diabetes or early diabetes .

My family history has Diabetes on both sides. So, I began taking every day a supplement pill of 1,000 mg of this. Can I prove it helps? Not scientifically but with my family history, I still wrestle with pre or indications of very early Diabetes, but , I do believe it helps. Since I am not on any medications, I feel better taking it.

    Therefore, I do.

Hope this helps you. Have a great day

I am thinking of trying this as well. My morning bs readings are higher than I'd like them to be but they are pretty consistant in range.

I take 2- Cinnamon 500 Mg Plus Chromium (it is in a capsule). I take with my main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and yes, I have tested it to see if it does help lowering my BS's. For me it does.

The scientific studies seems to be a 50/50. Half feel it helps and the other half says it doesn't. I know from my own experience, it does. Without it, my blood sugars start to climb up big time. (the reason I take the capsules is it is just too hard getting that much cinnamon in all my foods (got burned out on it) and I take it with my main meals so I don't get indigestion or cinnamon burps from it.

I've heard of anecdotal info that said Ceylon cinnamon is the type that's supposed to be able to affect BG.

The kind you get in the supermarket, is usually cassia, though I'm not sure, but if memory serves correctly, it's not the one you want to try if you're looking for the BG lowering benefits.

I actually didnt think it helped - until I ran out of it and my FBG jumped 20 points.

Now I take capsules with my metformin, do I know if it works? No, but its not hurting me...

I have been, believe they're 500 mg each, take 2x daily. The ones I'm taking are not the Ceylon one, since can' t find them.
I don't think they're doing anything but they don't appear to be hurting, so I'll continue taking them.

I try to remember to sprinkle some cinnamon on my breakfast, and usually try to get some with my last snack. I use the typical McKormic's cinnamon you get in the spice isle. It SEEMS to help, but I can't swear on it, because I am still trying to get in the habit of this on a daily schedule. When I haven't had it for a few days, I do notice my numbers ride up quite a bit, even if I've had a low carb/ high cardio day.
