How to lose inches?

I think I know my answer, but I'll ask it anyway.

I just finished the 30 day shred. DId it 5 days on, two off, for 6 weeks, adding extra cardio (Zumba, C25k) after most DVD sessions for a total workout of 45-60 min, plus 60min of Zumba 1x/wk, one rest day. Did strength sessions (body-resistance stuff) sometimes too, but not regularly for the past 6 weeks. My HRM averaged 200/cals per DVD session, and I felt I gave it a good go- didn't dial it in. Food stayed on track, if not a little low. Protein at recommended levels (was low before).

For all that work, and that annoying b(*$# Jillian, I Iost ONE inch total. 10lbs, but it doesn't matter if I am the same size. Clothes looser, but I'm not down any sizes yet. FML. This could be measurement inconsistency/error, but that still stung.

So where do I go from here to actually lose INCHES not just lbs? I plan to go back to strength (again body-resistance/handweight stuff- no gym access now) 3x a week + cardio 4-5x/week (progression thru c25k + Zumba). I guess I'll see Monday if I've lost ground in what I was doing before I started 30ds, though I feel stronger so hopefully not much if anything.

Will consistently increasing weights/reps plus the backup cardio finally start to burn away those inches? I'm not trying to spot-reduce, I mean overall - the scale is going down but my body's the same size? Or maybe my head and wrists are 5lbs smaller each. ;) Is there something else I should focus on to help in this process?

I bought into the hype and success stories, and am wondering if I should have just progressed in my strength routines, kept up the cardio, to have made progress. Live and learn, ready to focus on something new with hopefully better outward results!

    10lbs in 1 month isn't good progress?

Yes, strength training with progressive overload is superior to the 30 day shred.

But, your problem isn't really your exercise choice, it's your lack of patience.

    ^^agreed

Measurements are only one tool as there can be inconsistencies with where you measure and the tightness of the tape - plus that is only one small area - you do not lose BF evenly throughout the body, so it your clothes are looser, then you could well be losing in areas you are not measuring.

Your weight is going down, you are losing inches and your clothes are looser. That is a win imo.
