Hi, I am a new person here. I have been swimming for several months, first at the Y, then, because of the Y's crazy pool schedule, I bought a membership at a local hotel pool. It's harsh water, but there are no teenagers jumping on my head while I swim. I can buy lotion, I can't buy peace and quiet.

I have about 100 lbs to lose, but have been so pleased at how my swimming is coming along. I don't have an instructor, so I watch a lot of instructional videos. I mean, I never put my face into the water to swim until two months ago, but now I am able to do laps for an hour at a time, and would go longer, but I've got kids at home.

Anyway, I am glad to be here. Feel free to add me as a friend if you have room in your feed. No one else that I know swims for fitness. I kind of hate to let locals know how good this is, I get the pool to MYSELF at 8 AM and I don't want to lose that, :noway:

Welcome to MFP. I was where you were early last year. Like you I was never much of a swimmer, but now I'm doing at least a mile 3 times a week. I also do water aerobics twice a week and try to get some laps in before class.
