Question about nutrition

1I just got the book and I am stoked to get started! I've spent the last hours reading up to the recipe section but I am a little concerned because they stress using the meal plan along with the exercise regimen however it is no where near clean (slim fast?! yikes) or very pescetarian friendly(lots and lots of meats not very much fish).
Is anyone successfully completing the workouts without using the diet plan? I was thinking of just following the guidelines for macros and such but not the specific foods. Any recommendations?

I don't think many here really follow the menu plan necessarily, the calorie amount suggestions - maybe. I think finding your calorie amount from whichever source (book, scooby, TDEE, etc) and trying for lots of protein is the important part.0

yeah, that's what i do. their menu ideas look alright to me, but i have a lot of good, healthy foods i already like to make and can get my husband to eat, so that's what i stick with. i also pay attention mostly to the macros. still trying to wrap my mind around the calorie recommendations but doing better.0

totally agree with emtab. adjust for what works for you on the eating front. this group is all over the place on the diet front. also agree that getting enough protein is the key, but again some of us shoot for 25-30% of cals, other 40% or more. 1g per pound of body weight or 1g per kg of LBM are rules of thumb that some use.0
