Low carb eating?

Do any of you feel that limiting carbs works for you? I have been dinking around with my diet all spring. Nothing is working very well. I do think that calories in/calories out is where the rubber meets the road. However, I have a thyroid problem and losing weight does feel especially hard. Even when my calories are lower, I am not losing weight. Could go lower to be honest. But am toying with really watching the carbs in addition to calories. High fat foods seem to have more calories so the two are difficult in tandem... Would like to know what y'all think.

I find low-carb eating really tough in the long run. I follow the 5:2 diet so I avoid carbs for two days of the week, and if I can I have low/no carb dinners on the other days. That's the best I can do, I'm afraid! I think cutting out carbs completely is asking for trouble. The moment you eat them again (when you go on holiday, out for a meal, etc.) you'll just blow up.
But watching them (choosing one slice of toast instead of two, for example) is probably a good idea. I've found that I don't actually need nearly as much as I think I do when it comes to stuff like pasta. And I weigh it all now, if I can!
Hope that helps (:0 -
Hi
think it really does dependent on your body and how it naturally loses/gains weight..if that makes sense? personally low carb and high protein is how I lose/maintain weight. Really works for me. I love carbs though so I don't deprive myself of them completely..i usually try to stick with less than 80g a day (I'm 4ft 11..so might seem really low but I really can't afford to carry extra weight). When I really crave them I give in..but try to keep that to a min of once a week. If I have gained a bit...i revert back to at least 3ish consecutive days of low/no carb and high protein. Hope that helps ????0 -
I have hypothyroid and keep my carbs under 120g a day. I'm 5'7" and it works OK for me.
I've also found it really helps when I do continuous cardio (i.e. running, elliptical, stairs for at least 30 min straight without stopping).0 -
I find it difficult to go low-carb or even carb-cycle although I would like to give it more of a try. I know that if I can keep my protein at 100 grams per day I am less hungry.0

I'm trying that out at the moment. Whatever I ate before I just cut that portion in half( 1 slice of bread instead of 2 sort of thing) carbs are kind of hard to avoid all together so it's just best to learn how to better live with them.0
