Hi my paleo/primal friends,
I have a business lunch at an Indian rest today ... how hard is it to avoid grains, especially wheat? What to order/avoid (obviously avoid Naan) I am guessing that Legumes are pretty much a given, I'm ok with that...
I appreciate any help you can provide!

Unfortunately, it's pretty much a toss-up and it really depends on the restaurant. Many will use vegetable oils and such for cooking while others use more ghee. Same issue with the sauces, some will use gluten-based thickeners and others not.
Your best bet is to call ahead and see if they at least have gluten free items available. You may just need to tough out the cooking oils issue.0 -
I usually just order a salad if I am unsure, or just order chicken and deal with the oils used. If I am unsure of the oil in the "oil and vinegar" dressing, I ask for some lemon and squeeze it on with some salt and pepper.0

Tandori Chicken is probably the safest bet. Maybe some of the various Saag (mushroom or spinach based) if you are eating cheese.0

I don't recall any of my Indian food cookbooks requiring grains in any of their curries, and there are plenty of dishes without lentils or legumes. Focus on the business at hand, eat something ahead of time, and do the best you can.0
