Good Day Thursday! Bumping this up and I'll come back later with an update after my workout is done. I am going to walk about 45-60 minutes outdoors today and try this "Pedometer" app.
Toni: it's probably a relief that you now have a diagnosis and there is treatment for it. Take good care and have a good workout day.
Let's make it a thankful Thursday, too!0 -
Back to update.....
Instead of doing the scheduled cardio CLX Burn It Off, I walked outdoors…for 49 mins/2.364 miles/5282 steps/217.2 cals/2.9mph average speed. I noticed that once I hit the 30 minute mark a burst of energy kicked in and I sure needed it…lol.
For those of you that run, I thought of you while I was walking. Walking for 30 minutes or longer is not simple but RUNNING for that long or longer makes me have a new found respect for ya'll!!:blushing:  Do you feel that BURST of endorphins kicking in at the 30 minute mark for you as runners?0 -
Hey y'all! Sorry I've been somewhat absent and/or brief on here. Seems I've just been busy busy. I'm now starting to take my son to his taekwondo instead of my husband, which means I get home from my afternoon stuff at 5pm and have to make a light dinner ("tea") for the kids and get my son ready and out the door again by 7:30 and get back home again around 9:15. Makes for longer days, but I really enjoy watching my son at TKD and now that the weather is nice, it's a pleasant evening walk down to the TKD place.
Anyway, today was the usual: took lil girl to DS's school, pickedup DS, dropped him off @ lessons, took lil girl to park and played (got some squats @ the see-saw), DH came and we fed a turtle and then he took lil girl & I ran...not as long, but faster paced (also my right knee feeling twisted again, grrr), then walked by myself all the way home & found a nice shortcut that keeps me from doublebacking and helps me to avoid traffic and the sun for a few minutes (hint: cut through the metro station and use the tunnel to cross highways and avoid sun) :-)
Pam, as for the endorphins with running. I don't know what to think. I was actually thinking about it as I ran just today. I've had a few rare days where something clicks and I feel I can go forever. But most days it's a constant internal conversation with myself to keep going. Some days I really huff & puff and some days my breathing isn't even a factor. I *wish* I knew what the magic was...maybe carb-eating or the temperature or being hydrated....I don't know. But when those few magical days have come along--it's been sooo worth it. Today, I was huffing & puffing from the get-go so I knew I'd not have one of those magical days, so I chose to try to improve my pace and cut it short. I succeeded in improving my pace and I did only 3 laps, whereas usually I try for a minimum of 4 laps. If anybody knows where the "magic" comes from--TELL ME!
Okay, so, off to my son's TKD soon and then I'll hit some HG exercises tonight after our late dinner.0 -
I haven't run for a couple days and I have been eating horrible food choices so this morning I decided enough is enough. I put my running shoes on and ran 7.54 miles n 1:08:19 minutes which is a very good pace of 9:04 min/mile. I felt great and this just gives me more reason not to eat unhealthy foods! It is not going to help me increase my speed that is what I have to keep telling myself!
Hope everyone has a great Thursday!!!0 -
Getting ready to go out for a run with the hubby! Regarding the 30 minute mark: I'll let you know when I make it that far! Today is 15 minutes of running, 15 minutes of walking.0
