Race Prep Nutrition

Hey guys... I have 23 days until my half marathon. What does everyone do for nutrition leading up to a half? I've heard that the whole "carbo loading" thing isn't really used anymore and that even if you're planning on carbo loading, you should start it long before the race, not just the night before. Any suggetions on what I should be eating in these last 3 weeks? My training has gotten pretty intense so I want to make sure I'm adequately training my stomach as well.

Also, what do you eat the day before a race? I know I'm going to be nervous, so I want to make sure I eat something that will not give me tummy troubles. I usually do some kind of chicken and pasta the night before and then some protein & a banana the morning of. That seems to work ok for me. But would love to hear tips from others....

Hi, Carbo Loading is done in essence, but a lot of people that do it do not do it right. The day before a race, i eat the same kind of things, but just eat a little bit more "through out the day" and not eating a bowl of pasta the size of the planet the night before. You should have probably practiced the nutrition strategy on some of your long runs. For a half marathon, you don't have to go all nuts, but just make sure you are eating right now, esp with all of that high volume training. Don't eat anything weird the day before, like some Chinese food you have never had. lol. The trick really is not over thinking too much, and just eating sensibly. You will be great. The training is the hard part. What training plan are you on?
