how much did you gain when doing a reset?

Hi everyone. I have been flirting with the idea of starting this for so long now and I am actually starting to annoy myself. Like many others I have a history of low calories diets behind me, lost weight, kept a lot of it off but I haven’t achieved what I want and i probably haven’t eaten properly for a number of years. At 32 it is time to make the change. Now for the past month I have used the Scooby site and the spread sheet and I have been eating tdee minus 20%. I haven’t lost any weight and I haven’t gained. I have enjoyed knowing that I can eat like a normal person and not get fatter! But, there's always a but! I want to lose and tone up. I have been struggling the last few weeks and have come close to going back to the low calories as I have a holiday coming up. I don’t want to risk going backwards though for the sake of two weeks in the sun. So, what I am trying to ask, get to the point, sorry, is how much weight have people gained when doing a reset as I will be honest this terrifies me. I have decided to start the reset as soon as I return from my holidays and I will continue at cut until then to avoid weight gain.
I am 5 ft 2, 136 pounds. At the moment I work in an office 44 hours a week, do 2-3 gym classes a week, just started kettlebells and spin. I try to fit another in and I try to fit 30 minutes walking in 4-5 days a week. I had put myself at lightly active which gave me 1912 calories tdee so I have been eating 1530 calories a day.
Please can people help me to do this and let me know honestly what they gained. How long do I reset for?
Thank you and sorry for the long post. As a serial dieter and ex eating disorder girl I do need some help.xxx

    Hi there,

You aren't lightly active, but moderate. Also, take your cut to 15%, 20% is too steep and almost any activity duringt he day will likely take you below BMF.

If you want to tone, consider starting some strength training. I know you mentioned kettellbell and that is good. I have incorporated it into my strength routine, but there is nothing like dumbbells and barbells:-)

Hi! Thank you for replying so quickly. I have done bodypump a few times so I can work that in to my week to make three classes. So I need to be working from moderate? That gives me 2141 to maintain and 1819 at 15% reduction. Eeek! I can do this, I can do this!
Would you recommend doing a full reset?

    Hello!

I have the same history as you, not eating the proper amount of calories for years on end, trying every fad diet and failing. I have much, MUCH more weight to lose than you; but I found myself stuck at a weight I was not happy with, regardless of how much I exercised or how little I ate. From my college days, I had lost 65 pounds; but 2 babies & my 30s were not kind and I was gaining and losing the same 10 pounds. I decided to do a complete reset and I am so happy that I did!

I actually just finished up a 12-week reset and in the beginning it was very difficult; watching the scale go up, feeling your clothes get tighter, etc. But going into it, I knew that I would gain weight and once I was okay with that, it was much easier. I started at 209 and ended at 221, so I gained 12 pounds during my reset. More than I would have liked but I gained something so much more; I got my head in the right place. I am not obsessed with the scale anymore. I used to weigh all the time and become depressed when the numbers change drastically; which they can depending on your workouts & food intake.

I have to tell you, I am much happier eating 2300 calories than 1200; I have more energy and friends have even commented that I seem happier (probably because I'm not starving myself!) I just started my cut last week; but haven't been on the scale (and don't plan to for a month), but I don't care what the number on the scale says anymore, I am going by the way I feel and look; which to me is a major victory.

Short answer: I gained 12 pounds after a 12 week reset

Good luck and as I mentioned above, I highly recommend it! For both body AND mind.
