Skipping a day

So I skipped cardio today because I am sick this week and I can't face all the running around. If it was a Workout Day I would have done it..less herki-jerkiness.

What do you do when you have to skip a day? I think I am going to "pause" and make the next day I workout the continuation day (like today would have been day 21 I think, so tomorrow will just be 21)

I just fall a day behind and then on my originally planned rest day, I work out so I get caught back up. no harm done :)

I try to make the unexpected day off my rest day. But if I really still need the real rest day, I would just pick up where I left off. I didn't worry too much about sticking to the days of the week. It's actually inconvenient for me to rest on Sundays, I usually took it during the week based on life events like getting sick or things coming up with the kids and such.

Also, since you missed cardio, you could double up one day - do the strentgh workout followed by cardio

I'm on week 6 and this week has messed me up. I have skipped two workout days due to going out of town. :( I guess when I will have to do a strength and cardio day together to catch back up!!!

I have sometimes had to skip and used that day as my rest day then carried on, so by Monday I was back to normal rotation. I did have one day where I had nowhere to fit in the workout, not even the next day, so I just dropped it altogether and decided not to worry about it. I like to stick to the Monday shoulders etc Tuesday back etc Wednesday cardio... plan, I find it easier to stick to.

I think one day that you can't fit in is ok in the long run. Especially with cardio as you're not building strength. I'm just over halfway and have found it easier to stick to by dropping a day where it couldn't be helped.

If I have to miss a day, I typically try to double up somewhere else during the week with a cardio/strength combo workout. That way I don't miss anything and don't throw off the next week's schedule. Also, I don't do her cardio DVDs. I just do either 30 minutes of running or elliptical. I think it helps break up the monotony of the DVDs.
