Hey everyone!
I just started using my link yesterday. I think it is so awesome to see not only the calories burning, but also the information regarding exactly how much you did and when, as well as the sleeping information.
ANYWAYS my question is this... how do YOU use your link? I have linked my MFP and BM accounts, so I am curious...do you simply log you food on MFP and go by whatever the deficit is on BM?? Or the opposite - use MFP fully....with BM supplying the calories. I am personally thinking I will go with option A....but I would love some insight from you all!
Thanks so much!!

I do the first option - I log food into MFP and then use my body media armband to tell me the deficit.0

I do exactly what the last two posters said. I ignore the deficit shown on MFP and go by the BM readings. I think the BM deficit is more accurate since the MFP deficit is based on what you put in for your standard activity level (sedentary, active, etc). I also question how MFP comes up with the calories earned from exercise since BM records a much lower number for a workout session.0

I use Option #1 as well. I use MFP for logging food and using the Message Boards0

Ditto for me - Option 1! Since BMF calculates your overall calorie burn all day (excercise and just daily activity) it gives a much clearer picture. MFP has an amazing food log and options, so I'm happy utilizing the best of each. I have all my target goals, but look at the Calorie Deficit in the end as it effects overal weightloss.0

I adjusted my MFP net goal so that the "calories remaining" figure is close to the Bodymedia deficit. I just looked at the differences in the numbers and added that to my MFP calorie goal in settings ( I used custom ). It's about 250 calories lower on MFP, but I figure that just keeps me from going over. That way I can see my projected deficit throughout the day by just looking at MFP.0

I use option one but to really see the calories remaining here, I remove the BM adjustment (exercises). I also adjusted my settings at my Armband to more closely match what my doctor wants me to eat. And I adjusted my METS down a wee bit so that it picks up some of my exercises that I do as vigerous more readily. I love and trust my data at BM much more than I would the data here. The difference in the food as it moves over to BM is minor to me. My doctor likes my BM data too.0

MFP for food, BMF for activity.
I use runtastic which is linked to MFP. I don't adjust what MFP calculates as my total calories imported from runtastic. I used to use the total minutes imported from runtastic and then change total calories to 1 and then BMF would update with it's own calories info during that time frame. I stopped doing that as I feared it might screw things up, yet it is cool you have the option.
I use workout mode on my BMF App for all other exercise0 -
I wanted my mfp and bodymedia sites to match up so here is what I did. I decided I do not want to eat less than 1700 calories a day. Nor do I want to have more than a 1000 calorie a day deficit. On days I sit around and do absolutely nothing, I burn about 2200 calories. So bascially if I want to lose more than 1 lb a week, I need to exercise, and I do walk a lot.
I set up MFP for a 2lb a week loss, and then just changed the activity level until it showed my daily burn would be about 2700 calories a day. I think I had to chose the highest level of activity for that. Then I went to "goals" and chose custom and just changed the calories per day to 1700. And made sure the "allow negative adjustments" was unchecked. So now, MFP always tells me to eat 1700 calories, unless I burn more than 2700 ( as sent over from the BMF sync), then it starts telling me to eat back so that my deficit isn't more than 1000. Its not exact but it is close.
On the other hand its kind of a waste of time in a way, as could do the same thing just looking at the BMF. But I'm ocd I think and want the numbers to match up lol.0
