Hello everyone.
2 weeks ago I had a thyroid panel done after fasting at my doctor's office and I was told that my thyroid levels were normal, though for the past seven years I've been hypothyroid and have many symptoms, even when taking medication. I hadn't had my levels checked in nearly 2 years, but I have a REALLY difficult time losing weight, have high anxiety/forgetfulness/fatigue, and constant swollen legs and ankles. I'm certain that I still have symptoms of being hypothyroid even though my levels came back as normal. I take 100 mcg of levothyroxine in the morning. Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do about it? Any help would be appreciated.

I also take cytomel which is a T3 replacement. I take it twice a day; in A.M. and about noon. This really helps with fatigue. Levo is generic and it is not always a consistent dose (I take brand synthroid for that reason). I have an endocrinologist who really helped when I complained about symptoms. It sounds that your doc is not so interested. You might want to look around for a good endocrinologist (I had to go through a number of docs before I found one that was able to deal with my symptoms).0

You need to find a doctor who will treat you based on your symptoms not your lab values. I sounds like you need increased dose of Levo or addition of T3. If that doesn't work switching to natural dessicated thyroid like Armour or Nature throid. Get a print out of your labs and find yourself a new doc, preferrably one that is willing to prescribe dessicated thyroid. If you haven't yet visited and read, website stopthethyroidmadness.com has tons of great info.0

If you haven't already, go to the facebook page called Thyroid Sexy. There is a list of great doctors in the notes section. Hopefully one will be listed for your area.0
